Mary Holmes is a name synonymous with style and sophistication in the interior design world. With years of experience, she has carved a niche for herself as an influencer and stylist, bringing an unparalleled eye for detail to every project she undertakes.
Her journey began as the national visual merchandiser for a renowned homewares brand where she was instrumental in store design and fit-outs, styling merchandise and seasonal trends. She then excelled in the high-end retail sector, focusing on buying and designing furniture and sourcing the latest fabrics for their sofa furnishings range. This diverse experience has made her a powerhouse in the industry.
In 2018, Mary launched Proud Mary Stylist, a boutique interior design studio based in Melbourne. Her studio specialises in small renovation projects, interior decorating, and editorial styling. Recently, Mary expanded her business to include a variety of renovation projects across Victoria, from Ballarat to the Bellarine and Mornington Peninsulas, and throughout inner Melbourne.

Mary is always ahead of the curve when it comes to interior design trends. Asked about a current trend she is enjoying, she responds:
“I’m seeing more and more clients embracing colour, and becoming braver with their choices. My clients often want to stay neutral, not wanting styles to date. However, I encourage my clients to live in the now and choose what they love. Why not live in a home that is unique to their personality and brings them joy!
I’m seeing a lot of darker timbers being used and the mixing of timber colours too. Most recently I’ve been recommending this beautiful, engineered timber by Plantino to my clients. I’m loving the darker tones, they bring a real warmth to a space.
